InSAR data and derived information are increasingly being used in asset and risk management in mines and tailings storage facilities—whether operational or closed. This places new demands on engineers’ technical understanding since the InSAR data shows that everything in the mine is moving continuously. \nBy inspecting the InSAR data routinely and detecting patterns of the surface deformation associated with patterns in the use of the mine’s infrastructure\, early detection of problems comes within grasp\, and risk can be mitigated more effectively by separating the geotechnically relevant signal from geotechnically irrelevant noise. Understanding remote sensing data sets becomes a strategic enabler. This technical workshop provides participants with an understanding of optical\, SAR and InSAR remote sensing measurements and deployment for asset/risk management\, including practical cases. \nWorkshop Objectives: \n\nUnderstand the basics of InSAR deformation maps\, the opportunities they provide and their limitations\nRecognise the applications of InSAR in the Mining Industry\nLearn from Real-World Case Studies\n\nBOHOGS 2024 Sponsors:

The deposit is structurally complex and overlain by thick Cenozoic sediments and volcanics. Geotechnical conditions are complicated by weak surfaces\, seam and tectonic structure\, and adverse groundwater pressure conditions that together present complex challenges for mine planning and slope design. Presentations will be made by site personnel and a pit tour will be provided if weather conditions permit. \nBOHOGS 2023 SPONSORS:
